Among the rights of a Data Subject, which do you consider as the two important rights? Why?

The most important rights of data subject under Republic Act 10173 are the “Right to be Informed “and “Right to file a complaint”

Under R.A. 10173, the provision of information needed for alternative calculation and protection in advertising and labelling practices against false and misleading claims. It is also a right for the consumer. The costumer is entitled to be informed of the facts regarding the goods and services that are bought. The controllers will usually ask for your authorization through the use of a consent form. Except protecting you from unfair means of collecting personal data, this right also requires to notify you in a timely manner if your data is affected. You have the right to be informed as a data subject of your personal data.

The victim or any other person on his behalf may file a complaint with the Commission. If the subject of the complaint is an infringement of data to which the NPC (National Privacy Commission) is required by the personal information controller, the NPC may take action already before the complaint is filed. The Claims & Investigation Division shall conduct an initial assessment of the complaints received within a reasonable time of the receipt of the complaints via its Investigating Officers.
